Top 7 Wedding Vendors to Splurge On

Planning your dream wedding doesn’t have to break the bank. After witnessing so many weddings over the years, here are the Top 7 Wedding Vendors to Splurge On from a photographer’s perspective.

Splurge on Florals, Save on the Venue

Now at first, this tip might seem a little counterintuitive, but let me explain. While your wedding venue will be the center of all your wedding day activities, you can really *WOW* up an average venue with your details. Florals and other details help accentuate your entire day and help make your pictures a lot prettier! You’ll be holding your bouquet all day from the bridal party portraits to the ceremony to the family portraits. Florals will be in almost all of your pictures.

Florals are also amazing because you can often repurpose them throughout the day. That beautiful arch that you stood in front of during the ceremony or those florals that lined the ceremony walkway can often be repurposed to use during the reception.

Splurge on Your Wedding Dress, Save on Your Bridesmaids Dresses

You and your wedding dress is going to be the center of attention all day. You want to make sure you feel amazing in a dress you love! While you don’t want to open up a second mortgage for your dress, feel free to splurge a little bit to get that dress of your dreams. In addition, splurge on your dress alterations. Nothing is worse than an ill-fitting dress.

While you want your girls to look their best, there are so many beautiful cost-effective options for bridesmaids dresses! Many brands like Revolve and LuLus are coming out with gorgeous bridesmaids dresses that won’t break the bank.

Another aspect of your attire that you can save on is when it comes to uses. The most important factor when it comes to shoes is choosing something comfortable. You would be surprised how often brides change out of their heels into slippers for the reception! Not to mention your dress will cover your feet all day so no one will know if you’re were those fancy Jimmy Choos or just a pair of Ugg slippers under your dress.

Splurge on Your Hair & Makeup Team

You want to feel your absolute best and the most beautiful you have ever been on your wedding day. Splurge on your hair and makeup team. They will make sure that you look absolutely stunning. If you’re still looking for a way to save, you can splurge on one instead of the other. Is one of your bridesmaids amazing at doing hair, then splurge on makeup and save on hair! It’s all about balance.

Splurge on Lots of Appetizers & Drinks, Save on Dinner

While a filet mignon or 5 course meal may seem very enticing, there is no need to splurge on an extravagant dinner. Especially when you’re pay per person, those costs can add up quickly! Instead, splurge on an open bar during cocktail hour and keep the appetizers coming. You can never go wrong with a delicious, grilled chicken or seafood option paired with a vegetarian option. While your guests are served one meal, you can totally splurge on that filet mignon or lobster dish for you and your future spouse.

Save with a Month or Day of Coordinator

Planning a wedding is hectic. Some people do it all on their own but quite frankly that is not worth the headache. A planner of some sort is an amazing resource due to their amazing industry knowledge and for all the little questions you have no idea who to ask. They are amazing advice givers for wedding related dilemmas because odds are they’ve seen it all!

With all this said, depending on how hands on you are a full service planner may not be what you need. At the minimum, you will need a day of coordinator to hand everything on your wedding day from juggling vendors to directing guests. If you need a little more help, that’s where a month of coordinator comes in. They will help you make sure that all your ducks are in a row leading up to your wedding day and they’ll be by your side the entire day.

Splurge & Save on Your Honeymoon

Technically this tip isn’t vendor related but it’s still wedding related! Is your wedding during peak travel times? Postponing your you honeymoon a few weeks to a couple of months after your wedding could save you $$$ on flights and reservations and leave you extra money to put towards activities or a longer stay during your trip.

Splurge on Your Photographer

Last, but most definitely not least. Splurge on your photographer!!! I’m not saying this because I am a photographer, of all the tips in this guide, this the one I believe in the most. Your wedding day only happens once and the right photographer will capture all of your memories and the beautiful moments from your day.
